THE TABLE
The cuisine of theater
Directed by Antonio Damasco
with Silvia Edera and Francesca Bodanza
Hands on move, cutting, slicing... potatoes and fruits to be peeled, cheese, bread, wine and oil to be poured ... and shoes, feet, people running, hunger, war and black bread, party, lost and found loves, and envy, jealousy, dance ...
Two characters around "the table" - table, as a place of feasting, ritual and festivity of food, but also as a simplifying element on stage- tell a never written story, handed down only orally, made of serenades and closed windows, but also wine, bread and ground to be eaten. The audience will be required to perform the ancient art of cooking, in order
to eat all together the "meal" of the epilogue. Times, methods and ingredients are essential gears for the success of a "spectacular" dish; in the same way, in our lives, it is not possible to let all responsibilities to heaven and earth, without watching our little personal stories. The big story has to accept to become again what it had been: "a great popular story". The scenic event, suitable indoor and outdoor, was born from the replicas of vigils and theater actions which developed the survey on the relationship between food/theater and ritual/celebration. It is a new form of show, where three enormous set tables will be the stage for an exciting story, through magic products, the words of theater and the participation of the audience, who will look again for the origins of a popular theater made of “needing”.
